The Jesuit Dallas Lacrosse Invitational continues on Saturday, when the hosting Jesuit Rangers enter action against St. Ignatius (Calif.) in the second game of the three-day classic.
This year's classic features three defending state champions, the reigning Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) Division I State Champions (Jesuit), Â the defending West Catholic Athletic League (WCAL) titleholders (St. Ignatius) and the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC) champs (Gonzaga Prep).

Faceoff between the Rangers and Wildcats is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. The tournament will conclude when Jesuit battles Gonzaga (D.C.) on Sunday at 11 a.m. Tickets cost $5 for adults and students for each contest.

St. Ignatius and Gonzaga opened the classic on Friday evening, a back-and-forth affair that saw St. Ignatius topple perennial national power Gonzaga, 11-10, with two goals in the final 45 seconds. The two teams were tied, 7-7 at halftime before the Eagles took a 10-9 lead with 2:30 remaining in regulation, providing the opening for the stunning Wildcat comeback.

MaxPreps, St. Ignatius finished the 2016 season ranked sixth in California, closing the year with a 16-5 record, winning the WCAL crown with a 12-9 triumph over Bellarmine Prep. Gonzaga (1-1), which finished the 2016 campaign as the third-best team in the nation according to

Under Armour/Inside Lacrosse Top 25 High School National Power Rankings.

Jesuit Dallas enters the fray with a 5-1 record, looking to capture its fourth straight victory with a win over St. Ignatius. The Rangers captured an 11-7 win over Flower Mound on Thursday, Mar. 9 to gain momentum heading into the weekend.

Jacob Jackson scored three goals apiece to pace the Rangers against the Jaguars, while senior
Stephen Price earned the decision in the cage with 10 saves on the evening. Jesuit (5-1) dominated the faceoff "X", winning 15-of-21 chances, and converted 25-of-31 clear attempts.

Entering its 19th year, the Jesuit Lacrosse Classic was originally formed by Gonzaga and Georgetown Prep in Washington, D.C. The Rangers have frequently competed in the annual tournament, finishing the 2015 iteration of the classic 1-1 with a win over Brophy and loss to Gonzaga.

This year, the Jesuit Lacrosse Classic honors the memory of Welles Crowther, a former lacrosse player at Boston College who passed away in the September 11 attacks. Memorialized nationwide as "The Man in the Red Bandana", tournament organizers paid tribute to Crowther, who wore No. 19 during his time on Chestnut Hill, in a touching pregame ceremony prior to Friday's game, honoring 9/11 first responders and the family of Welles Crowther.
