Jesuit Dallas tallied a pair of second period goals cut off an early offensive outburst from McKinney, but the Lions ended Tuesday's AT&T Metroplex League City Championship playoff game with two unanswered goals to end the Rangers' 2016-17 season, 5-2, on Tuesday at the Dr. Pepper StarCenter in Frisco, Texas.

Chase Phillips and
Alexander McBey lit the lamp for the Blue and Gold, who entered the tournament as the sixth seed after a rampant run over the final two regular season games placed the Rangers in the postseason. Goalie
Royce Allred made 20 saves, while Jesuit outshot McKinney, 27-25, including a third period which saw the Rangers send 12 attempts on net in hopes of an unprecedented comeback.

After a scoreless first period, McKinney found twine for the first time with 7:31 remaining in the second. After McKinney tacked on its second goal with 4:50 remaining in the stanza, Phillips snagged a poor clearance pass in the offensive zone, firing a wrist shot past the McKinney goalie for the Rangers' first goal of the game.

McBey snagged another McKinney turnover while the Rangers were shorthanded in the third period, cutting the deficit back to a single goal with a low wrister that deflected in off the far post. McKinney would regain control in the third, keeping Jesuit away from the net while scoring a pair of goals over the final nine minutes to clinch the victory.

Jesuit finishes the 2016-17 season with a 7-12-0 record, besting Plano West and Denton County for the final playoff spot in the AT&T Metroplex City Championship playoffs.
