Reilly Minigutti off of a corner kick by
Tommy Flaim sent the Jesuit Dallas soccer squad into the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region 2-6A Final with a 2-0 shutout win over Stony Point on Friday, April 7 at Kelly Reeves Stadium.

On Jesuit's fifth corner kick attempt of the evening, Flaim sent a low burning kick into the crowd of players swarming the penalty area. The loose ball was deflected in off of Minigutti's leg to break a scoreless tie between two evenly matched squads. Senior
Will Kennard added an insurance goal in the 77th minute off of an assist by junior
Christian Lerma to help the Rangers (19-3-1) reach their first regional final since 2012. Senior
Luke Ostrander earned the shutout, making nine saves to secure his 10
th decision of the year.

Jesuit was outshot, 15-8, by the Tigers (14-7-4), but took advantage of 11 Stony Point fouls to control the pace of the game. The Rangers had six first half shot attempts, but were limited in the second, scoring on both of their shots while Stony Point attempted to seize control of the contest with 10 shots in the second stanza.

The Rangers will take on Sachse in the UIL Region 2-6A Final on Saturday, April 8 at 1 p.m. from Kelly Reeves Stadium. Sachse upended Irving Nimitz, 3-0, to reach the regional final, where the Mustangs and Rangers will have a rubber match after splitting their regular season series. The teams first met in the 2017 Jesuit-Meintser Tournament semifinal, a game win by Sachse in penalty kicks, before Jesuit avenged the loss with a 3-0 win on January 20.
