Rangers Capture 4-0 Victory to Close Meintser Tournament

Jesuit Dallas closed the 37th Annual Jesuit-Meintser Invitational Soccer Tournament with a dominant, 4-0 victory over Nolan Catholic on Saturday morning at Postell Stadium. The Rangers closed the tournament with a 1-1-1 record and finish in seventh place at the tournament.

Senior Andrew Gilchrist opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the 19th minute to send the Rangers into the break with a 1-0 advantage. Jesuit erupted in the second half with three goals, including tallies from seniors Lorenzo Genera, J.P. Koshakji and Alex Reznicek. Jesuit out-shot Nolan Catholic, 20-1 in the contest, including six shots on goal.

The Rangers controlled the pace in the early portion of the contest, sending four shots to the Vikings' keeper within the first 10 minutes. Jesuit's first tally of the contest came after Nolan committed a hand ball in the box and Gilchrist responded by lacing a penalty kick attempt into the back of the net to give Jesuit Dallas the early lead.

Jesuit kept the pressure on in the second half, scoring in the 48th minute. A throw-in from junior Chris Flabiano resulted in a loose ball in the box, eventually recovered by Koshakji who pushed the ball past the goal line for a two-goal advantage. Jesuit's third goal came after Gilchrist sent in a long ball from the far side that landed in front of the near post, where Genera was able to launch the ball past the keeper with a low liner that found the left side post.

Reznicek tallied his first goal of the season by heading in a free kick by J.P. Koshakji from 30 yards out, placing the ball underneath the crossbar for the team's fourth goal.

Jesuit will return to Postell Stadium on Friday, Jan. 19 for a 7 p.m. kickoff against Trinity Christian Academy.
