Jesuit continued its impressive start to the 2018-19 campaign, sweeping its way to a 2-0 record on the first of two days at the 2018 Lone Star Classic in Frisco, Texas. The Rangers upended state-ranked No. 6-4A Dallas Lincoln, 89-57 before closing the day with a 69-30 win over Denton.

Jesuit (4-0) scored a season-high 89 points against Lincoln, anchored by four double-digit scorers. Senior
Max Abmas led the team with 26 points, hitting 10 field goals from the court and four three-pointers. Fellow fourth year
John Phillips set a new career-high with 15 points, hitting five three-pointers to assist in Jesuit's 28 bench points. Seniors
Julius Marble and
Anthony Hollerich added 12 points apiece as sophomore
Gavin Perryman closed out the bout with nine points.

The Rangers shot 54.1 percent from the floor and a season-best 56 percent from three-point range, knocking down 14 three-pointers. Marble added a season-high 14 rebounds to secure his second double-double of the season as Abmas and Marble each logged a game-high five assists. Junior

In the first quarter, Jesuit erupted out of the gate for an 11-4 lead, capped by a conventional three-point play from Hollerich. Two quick buckets by Lincoln was answered by an 18-2, quarter-ending run by Jesuit to take a 29-10 advantage into the second. Phillips buried a three-pointer to open the second, helping Jesuit hold a lead of 15 points or greater over the entire quarter until a buzzer-beating jumper by Abmas sent Jesuit into the break with a 48-24 lead.

Lincoln looked to rally in the third quarter and seemed to be piecing together a run with a 6-2 run, but Marble swung the pendulum right back to the favor of the Rangers with a thunderous dunk, returning the lead to 22 points. A layup from Hollerich with 50 seconds remaining gave Jesuit a 31-point lead as the Blue and Gold took a 74-41 lead into the fourth.

The Rangers shot 53.3 percent from the floor and 50 percent from outside the arc in the second half, holding a 30-point lead throughout the duration of the fourth quarter en route to the 32-point victory. Senior

The Rangers were anchored by Abmas once again, as the senior knocked down a trio of three-pointers to close the bout with 21 points. Marble finished the contest with 12 points and six rebounds as Hollerich added 10 points and five boards. Abmas logged a team-leading four assists and four steals as Brown added a squad-leading two blocks.

The Jesuit defense locked down the Broncos' offense to 29.3 percent from the floor and 22.2 percent from three-point range, as the Blue and Gold held the lead from wire-to-wire. The Rangers forced 18 turnovers, allowing the Rangers to score 29 points off of Denton miscues. Jesuit added 12 second-chance points on 14 offensive rebounds, scoring 36 points in the paint.

Abmas hit a pair of three-pointers to open the contest, sparking a 14-3 run by the Rangers to open the contest. A quick, five-point swing by Denton reduced the Ranger advantage to seven points, but Abmas ended the quarter with a steal and fast break layup to send Jesuit into the second quarter with a nine-point lead. Denton cut the Jesuit lead to five points with 5:23 remaining in the half, but Jesuit responded with a 14-2, quarter-closing run to secure a 17-point lead at the halftime break.

Jesuit traded buckets with Denton in the third quarter before a 9-0 run gave the Rangers a 28-point lead. A dunk by Brown gave Jesuit its first 30-point lead of the contest with 1:03 remaining in the third. Jesuit continued its resounding second half performance, forcing nine Denton turnovers while holding the Broncos to only 17 shots to outscore Denton, 34-12 in the second half en route to the win.

Jesuit will close the Lone Star Classic on Tuesday, November 20 with matchups against Frisco Liberty and OKC Storm. The Rangers and Redhawks will battle at 9 a.m. before Jesuit closes the tournament against the Storm at 3 p.m.
