A smothering defense and statement-making opening half vaulted Jesuit Dallas to a 59-39 win over W.T. White in the "Battle For the Saddle" on Feb. 2 at Walsh Gym. Completing a sweep of a two-game home stand, Jesuit Dallas sits in second place of University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A heading into the final three games of the regular season.

Marcus Hill led the way for the Rangers with 13 points and a team-leading seven rebounds. The Air Force commit buried a trio of three-pointers, closing out the contest shooting 4-of-6 from the floor. Junior
Max Abmas followed Hill's effort with 12 points, adding a team-leading four assists. Senior
Joey Preboy was the frontcourt presence of the Blue and Gold with 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.

- Jesuit jumped out of the gate to a 9-2 lead hallway through the first quarter after four points from Preboy, three from Abmas and a pair of converted free throws from senior Michael Jankovich. The Rangers would build a double-digit lead by the seven-minute mark of the second quarter, capping a game-opening, 23-8 run with an Abmas layup to take a 23-8 advantage with five minutes remaining in the half.

- The Ranger defense held W.T. White to 2-of-12 shooting over an eight-minute stretch while building a 21-point lead midway through the third quarter. The Longhorns began to garner momentum heading into the fourth quarter, hitting 7-of-17 shots and converting 9-of-13 free throws, but Jesuit Dallas was able to close out the victory down the stretch, keeping a 20-point lead intact until the final buzzer.
