A goal in the 60
th minute by senior
Alex Reznicek put the Rangers up late after a back-and-forth opening stanza, but a tally moments later from Skyline sent Jesuit Dallas to a 1-1 tie in its penultimate University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A home contest on Friday at Postell Stadium. The Rangers will close its home slate against J.J. Pearce on Tuesday, Mar. 6 and head into the final two weeks of the regular season four points behind Skyline for the final playoff spot in the district.
Â
Reznicek tied junior
Diego Sierra for the team lead in points with his fourth tally of the year, corralling a ricochet off of a corner kick and launching a point-blank shot from close range past the Skyline goalkeeper to break a scoreless tie. However, Skyline increased the pressure after allowing the tally, earning a corner kick of its own and netting the equalizer moments later.
Â
The action intensified over the waning moments of the contest as a shot by Sierra was saved and senior
Ryan Davis placed a strong kick that glanced off of the post. The Rangers had one final look at a go-ahead goal prior to the final buzzer, but Sierra sent an attempt off the crossbar as the horn sounded.
Â
Jesuit Dallas out-shot Skyline 12-10, earning five corner kicks compared to one earned by Skyline. Senior
Joseph Banul made four saves on the Raiders while senior
J.P. Koshakji logged the Rangers' last shot on target.
