Rangers Sweep Raiders, Capture Fifth Straight Win

Jesuit Dallas continued its winning ways with a doubleheader sweep over Skyline on Friday at Wright Field, securing a pair of run-rule victories to move to 4-2 in University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A. The Rangers followed a 14-0 win in game one with a 10-0 victory in the nightcap following several impressive offensive showings and a pair of stellar pitching performances.

Senior Peter Delkus and junior Jack Lynch each earned complete game shutouts, with Delkus pitching game one before Lynch earned his fourth win of the season in game two. Delkus struck out three batters and only allowed three hits while not allowing a walk while Lynch fanned seven batters while only allowing three hits.

Senior Paul Gramling and sophomore Jalon Mack drove in a team-leading five runs apiece while junior Bijan Kamalipour drove in four runs. Kamalipour and senior Maccoy Lopez posted two doubles each while the Blue and Gold stole 15 bases, converting on 14-of-15 stolen base attempts.

How it Happened – Game One

  • The Rangers jumped on the Raiders in the first inning, plating three runs on three hits and two Skyline errors. Mack kicked off the bout with a bunt single, scoring on a double to left center by Kamalipour. Gramling laced a triple to center field, scoring Kamalipour for Jesuit's second run before scoring on a two-out error.

  • A sacrifice fly to right field by Mack scored senior Luke Przybylski in the second inning before Jesuit would take firm control of the game with four runs in the third. Kamalipour crossed the plate on a Gramling double down the left field line. The senior would score on a double to left from junior Caden Carlson, who would score on a single through the left side by senior Tyler Murrah to spot Jesuit an eight-run lead.

  • In the top of the fifth inning, Jesuit would score six runs to clinch the game. Sophomore Tyson Pointer reached base on an inning-opening error before pinch runner Cole Beach scored when Mack was hit by a pitch. Lynch forced a bases loaded walk to propel the Rangers to a double-digit lead before a two-run single by Kamalipour drove home Lynch and Mack.

  • Lopez scored on a double down the left field line by junior Miles Page to put the Rangers ahead 14-0. Delkus completed the shutout in the seventh after allowing two hits as by a runner caught stealing by the catcher Pointer before a game-ending strikeout sealed the victory for Jesuit.

How it Happened – Game Two

  • Jesuit took another early lead in the nightcap with two runs in the first inning as Murrah scored on a double to left center by Kamalipour before a sacrifice fly from Gramling brought Lopez across the plate. The Rangers would add to their lead in the second with three runs on two hits, including a single through the right side by Mack and a groundout RBI for Lynch. Mack scored on a passed ball to increase the Ranger lead to five runs.

  • Lynch demonstrated control of the bout, only allowing three runners into scoring position throughout the contest. Pitching a 1-2-3 third inning, the junior retired five consecutive batters to put the Rangers into position for the victory.

  • A two-run single up the middle by Mack in the third inning plated junior Marco Marrero and Carlson to bolster the lead to seven before Grambling laced a single to right center to score Lopez.
