How it Happened
Â
- After being retired in order in the first inning, the Rangers opened the scoring in the second. Kamalipour laced a double to left center to open up the frame, scoring Jesuit's first run on a single to right by Pointer. Przybylski cracked a single to right field to score senior pinch runner Cole Beach to spot Jesuit a two-run lead.
Â
- Mack singled to lead off the third, moving to third on back-to-back errors before scoring on a bases loaded walk to Kamalipour. Sophomore Braxton Boyle scored on a fielder's choice by Pointer to increase the Ranger lead to four runs.
Â
- Jesuit did a majority of its damage in the fourth, scoring seven runs on six hits and one W.T. White error. A double from senior Tyler Murrah drove home Przybylski before singles by senior Maccoy Lopez and Kamalipour increased the lead to seven runs.
Â
- To continue the inning, junior Caden Carlson sent a fly ball into shallow right field that was dropped by the Longhorn second baseman, allowing Kamalipour and Lopez to score. Przybylski ended the inning with a triple to center, scoring Carlson and senior Will Gibbins to propel the Rangers to an 11-run lead.
Â
- Jesuit's final run of the game came in the top of the fifth on a triple to left center field by freshman Gavin Perryman, allowing Boyle to cross home plate for Jesuit's 12th run. Lynch retired six consecutive batters between the third, fourth and fifth inning, clinching the win with a runner at first to secure the run-rule victory.
