A standing-room only crowd cheered the No. 5-ranked Jesuit Dallas Rangers to a stunning 77-58 win over No. 2 Allen on Friday at Walsh Gym. Friday's victory completes the Rangers' regular season sweep of the reigning state champions as Jesuit will enter the final five games of the regular season in the driver seat to capture the program's fifth district championship.

The senior tandem of
Max Abmas and
Julius Marble combined for 51 of the team's 77 points as Abmas racked up 27 points while Marble added 24 to the scoring column. Marble was also the team leader with seven rebounds while Abmas matched sophomore
Gavin Perryman with a team-high four assists while adding a squad-leading five steals. Jesuit (21-5, 7-2) scored 20 points off of 16 Allen turnovers and held the Eagles to a 5-of-26 clip from three-point range.

Allen led by six with 2:28 left in the first before two three-pointers by Abmas sparked a 6-2 run to bring the Rangers within a bucket of the tie. Jesuit began to click in the second quarter, taking its first lead of the contest with 4:33 left in the half. Abmas sent Walsh Gym into a frenzy in the final moments of the quarter, burying a long-distance three-pointer with two seconds left before the half to send Jesuit into the break with a two-point lead.

The Rangers carried momentum into the third quarter as Abmas' three-pointer turned into a game-breaking, 14-2 run which gave Jesuit an 11-point lead with 5:26 remaining in the third. Jesuit led by as many as 16 points in the third quarter, taking a 13-point advantage into the fourth. The Rangers continued its second half dominance with a 6-2 run to open the fourth, taking a 17-point lead midway through the final quarter. Marble punctuated the win with a dunk at the 1:58 mark to put the game away as Rangers went 7-of-8 down the stretch to keep Allen away from the lead.

Jesuit will continue its district season on Saturday, when the Blue and Gold travels to Plano Senior H.S. for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against the Wildcats. The Rangers will return to Walsh Gymnasium on Friday, Feb. 1 when the Blue and Gold matchup against McKinney.
