Scots Push Past Rangers in Third Period

Jesuit Dallas was unable to overcome a late third-period goal from Highland Park, dropping a 4-2 decision to the Scots on Thursday, Dec. 5 at the Richardson StarCenter. The Rangers saw goals scored by two separate members of the offense as the team went into the third period tied, 2-2, but were shut out in the third period while the Scots were able to pull away with two late tallies.

Junior Alec Rahlfs scored his second goal of the season to jumpstart the Rangers offense as a goal from Nicholas Boss, his third of the year, tied the game late in the second period. Junior Chase Neel assisted on both goals as Rahlfs added his second point of the game by assisting on Boss' second-period tally. Senior Jack Rahlfs made 22 saves in net for the Rangers, including 10 in the third period.

The Rangers scored the game-opening tally at the 9:22 mark on a feed by Neel to Rahlfs. Jesuit would finish the opening period with nine shots, but Highland Park erupted out of the gate in the second period with goals at the 14:02 and 4:58 mark to take a 2-1 lead. After the go-ahead goal, Jesuit won the faceoff, moved down-ice and scored on a play that went from Neel to Rahlfs to Boss for the equalizer.

Jesuit would only send in seven shots during the third period as Highland Park scored with 5:05 to go ahead by one goal before scoring the empty-netter with five seconds remaining in regulation.

The Rangers will return to action on Thursday, Dec. 12 as the Blue and Gold will battle Allen at 9:15 at the McKinney StarCenter. The Rangers have won eight consecutive games against the Eagles dating back to 2017 and bested Allen, 5-2, in the last matchup between the two squads on Nov. 7.
