Jesuit Dallas split the first day of the 2019 Jesuit Dallas Baseball Classic, dropping a 1-0 decision to Princeton before dominating Red Oak in a 10-0, five-inning win on Thursday at Wright Field. The Rangers will continue the three-day tournament on Friday with two more games on the horizon.

Jordan Lawlar led the charge with four RBI for the Rangers, going 3-for-6 from the plate with a double. Junior
Braxton Boyle added three hits of his own as sophomore
Connor Chavez and junior
Tyson Pointer scattered two hits each. Junior
Matthew Cox earned the hard-luck loss in the first contest despite a stellar, seven-inning effort which saw the lefty allow one run on six hits while striking out six hitters. Junior
Alek Houillion added six strikeouts for his first shutout win of the year.

The Rangers experienced a drastic change in fortune during their second game, scoring two runs in each of the first three innings en route to a dominant win. Chavez led the charge with four runs as Boyle scored three and senior
Witt Chambers scored two. Additionally, senior
Garrett Reuben, junior
Jalon Mack, sophomore
Gavin Perryman and Pointer each secured RBI for the Blue and Gold.

Jesuit scored two runs on one hit in the bottom of the first after a leadoff walk to Chavez and four consecutive walks from Red Oak pitchers resulted in a quick 2-0 lead for Jesuit. Chavez would earn a one-out walk to kickoff Jesuit's second inning offense before back-to-back-to-back doubles by Boyle, Lawlar and Reuben increased the lead to four runs.

Lawlar ripped a single to right center to score Chavez and Chambers in the third, handing the Rangers a 6-0 advantage. Houillion kept Red Oak in check, only allowing one hit over the first four innings. Jesuit plated four runs on four hits in the bottom of the fifth to clinch the win, as Pointer ended the game with a single through the left side to score Chambers.

The Rangers developed several opportunities early against Princeton but were unable to take advantage of runners in scoring position during the first and second inning. Princeton broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fourth after the Tigers scored a two-out run after Jesuit allowed a leadoff walk.

Jesuit was held in check during the fifth and sixth innings but looked to rally in the top of the seventh. Senior
Caden Carlson ripped a single up the middle to reach base, but the Rangers were unable to score the game-tying run as Princeton clinched the victory.
