Another stellar pitching performance by senior
Jack Lynch and a six-run fifth inning propelled Jesuit to a 6-1 win over Plano West on Friday. Jesuit moves to 1-1 in district play with the victory heading into a two-game series against McKinney Boyd next week.
Â
Lynch threw 6.1 quality innings, allowing one hit while striking out 13 batters. Lynch's performance matches his career outing of 13 strikeouts recorded earlier this season against Lovejoy while moving Lynch's strikeout total to 44 this season. The Xavier University Commit has allowed only four earned runs over 27.1 innings pitched and has secured a 1.32 earned run average of four starts this season.

Sophomore
Connor Chavez went 1-for-4 from the plate, sending a two-run double to left center to cap the Rangers' takeover inning. Jesuit (12-6, 1-1) racked up five hits as Chavez, sophomore
Jordan Lawlar, junior
Jalon Mack senior
Caden Carlson and
Garrett Reuben recorded hits.
Â
Plano West jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning and held the Rangers in check over the first five innings. Jesuit placed runners at third base in the first and third innings but were unable to score until a turnaround top of the fifth. Sophomore
Braxton Boyle reached on an error and scored on a double to left center by Lawlar, who recorded his 19th RBI of the season to tie the game. Reuben reached on another Plano West error that allowed Lawlar to cross the plate and give Jesuit the lead.
Â
Mack gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead with a double to right center before sophomore
Gavin Perryman reached on a fielder's choice to put runners at the corners. A walk to junior
Tanner Jones loaded the bases before a walk to Carlson plated Mack to increase the lead to 4-1. A double to left center by Chaves brought Jones and Perryman home to complete the rally, giving Jesuit six runs on three hits and two Wolves' errors, sending Jesuit into the final stages of the game with a five-run lead.
Â
Lynch continued to excel on the mound, working his way out of a jam with a runner in scoring position during the fifth inning and retiring the Wolves in order during the sixth. Perryman entered in relief with one out in the seventh and a man aboard, finishing the game by forcing a 6-3 double play.

The Rangers will return to Wright Field on Tuesday to face the Broncos. First pitch between Jesuit and McKinney Boyd is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. before the two teams close their series on Friday in McKinney at 7:30 p.m.
