Jordan Lawlar's fifth home run of the season sparked a seventh-inning rally, but Jesuit fell to 2-3 in University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A with an 8-6 loss at Prosper on Tuesday night. The Rangers allowed six runs in the third inning with the game tied 1-1 and were unable to complete the comeback despite scoring two runs in the fourth and three in the seventh.

Lawlar led the way for the Blue and Gold, going 2-for-3 with a double three RBI and a run scored to accompany his seventh-inning blast. Senior

Alek Houillion suffered the loss despite striking out two batters over 2.2 innings of work while senior
Ben Shepherd entered in relief, fanning four batters over his 4.1 innings on the mound.

Jesuit (14-8, 2-3) looked poised to strike first in the top of the opening frame by placing runners on the corners with two outs. However, Prosper was able to work its way out of the inning before scoring in the bottom of the second. Without recording a hit in the inning, working the base paths after an inning-opening walk to take a 1-0 lead into the third.

Sophomore
Gavin Perryman reached first after being hit by a pitch with one out in the third inning. A walk to Lawlar moved Perryman to second before the sophomore stole third to put himself in position to tie the game. Prosper starting pitcher Caleb Putnam was called for a balk with sophomore
Braxton Boyle at the plate, bringing Perryman home to tie the game, 1-1.

Prosper took a 7-1 lead after scoring six runs on three hits, one Jesuit error and five walks. In the top of the fourth, Lynch doubled to center field then moved to third on a passed ball before scoring on a wild pitch. Senior
Garrett Reuben walked with one out in the inning and was able to score on a rip up the middle by Pointer to cut the lead to four.

In the sixth, Prosper added another run on a home run to send the Rangers into the top of the seventh trailing, 8-3. With two outs in the inning, walks to sophomore Nick Lazzara and sophomore
Connor Chavez put two runners on for Lawlar, who deposited a 3-1 pitch over the wall in left center to cut the lead to two runs before Prosper was able to clinch the win by forcing the final out in foul territory.

Jesuit will return to Wright Field on Friday, Mar. 29 to close the district series against Prosper. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. as the Rangers will look to clinch their eighth win at home while moving back to .500 in the district standings.
