Another outstanding outing by senior
Jack Lynch propelled Jesuit Dallas to a 2-0 win over state-ranked No. 5 Prosper on Friday night at Wright Field. The Rangers improve to 3-3 in University Interscholastic League (UIL) District 9-6A with the victory and head into the final four weeks of the season with a one-game lead for fourth place heading into a key two-game set against the district-leading Allen Eagles.
Â
Lynch struck out 13 batters, matching his career-high. The senior Xavier University commit has recorded 13 strikeouts on three occasions, achieving the total against Lovejoy (Mar. 1) and Plano West (Mar. 15). Over six starts this season, Lynch has 65 strikeouts to his credit, averaging 10.8 strikeouts per game. The senior threw a one-hitter, only walking three batters en route to his fourth win of the year.

Senior
Garrett Reuben drove in the team's first run in the second inning before sophomore
Jordan Lawlar laced his second triple of the season in the third to spot the Rangers a two-run advantage. Junior
Braxton Boyle tacked on his third double of the season to assist in the Jesuit effort.
Â
Prosper threatened in the first after a lead-off walk and a ground ball placed a runner in scoring position, but Lynch struck out two batters in the inning to keep the contest scoreless. The Rangers were retired in order in the first inning before junior
Jalon Mack led off the second with an infield single. Mack stole second and would score on Reuben's single to left, providing the Blue and Gold an early, one-run advantage.
Â
In the bottom of the third, senior
Cooper Shawl reached on an error by the Prosper third baseman before moving to second base on a sacrifice bunt from sophomore
Connor Chavez. Lawlar crushed a triple to right center, plating Shawl for Jesuit's second run of the bout.
Â
Lynch quickly settled in after the lead-off walk in the first, retiring the next 10 hitters until a single to right in the top of the fourth broke up the senior's no-hit bid. Lynch worked his way out of the inning once again with two strikeouts to end the frame. Prosper seemed poised to cut the lead in half during the top of the sixth as the Eagles placed runners on the corners with two outs. However, Lynch was able to work his way out of the inning once again to go into the seventh with the lead.
Â
Lynch struck out the first batter of the seventh inning on three pitches before fielding a sharp grounder hit back at the mound for the second out of the inning. Junior
Ryan Messick entered in relief and forced a groundout to the shortstop to clinch the win for the Rangers.

Jesuit will open the series against Allen at Wright Field on Tuesday. On Friday, the attention will shift to Allen High School for the conclusion for the two-game stint. First pitch for both contests is scheduled for 7:30 p.m., and Tuesday's game will be broadcast live on JesuitRangers.org.
