The Ranger rugby team battled through a pounding rainstorm en route to a district championship as the Rangers defeated Westlake, 24-7 on Saturday at Postell Stadium. With the win, Jesuit Dallas is assured of winning the Rugby Texas Division I North title and will head into the playoffs as one of the top teams in Texas.

Will Woodard scored two tries for the Blue and Gold as senior
Maximillian Telfer found pay dirt for Jesuit, who closes the regular season with a 12-1 record. The Rangers shut down the Chaps' offense until late in the second half, when Westlake was able to break through to snap the shutout. Junior
Mitchell Campbell added conversions on all three of Jesuit's tries, tacking on a three-point penalty kick late in regulation.

With the victory, the Rangers and Westlake close the season tied atop of the division, but Jesuit's head-to-head victory over the Chaps awarded the Blue and Gold the outright district crown. Over the last five matches, Jesuit has outscored opponents, 227-47. The Rangers have held opponents to three or fewer tries in seven matches, dating back to a 40-20 win over Rock Rugby on Feb. 15.

Jesuit will face Cy Fair in the first round of the Rugby Texas Division I State Tournament at a time and place to be determined. The Rangers and Bobcats have not met head-to-head since the 2017 season, when Cy Fair defeated the Rangers at the 2017 Jesuit Dallas Rugby Showdown.
