Jesuit Dallas split the first two games of the regular season, opening the 2020 campaign at the Jesuit-Meintser Tournament at Postell Stadium. The Rangers came storming back from a one-goal halftime deficit to defeat Bishop Lynch, 2-1, on Thursday before Jesuit dropped a 1-0 decision to Belton on Saturday.

Senior
Tom Jubin jumpstarted the Ranger rally against the Friars, making a key stop on a Bishop Lynch penalty kick in the 23rd minute. Lynch scored earlier in the half off of a free kick to take a 1-0 lead, outshooting the Rangers 7-4 propelled by six Jesuit fouls. The Rangers created three corner kick opportunities as shots by
Jason Davis,
Will Kelton and
Will Kelton were turned aside. Junior
Diego Sierra recorded Jesuit's final shot of the first half as the Rangers were unable to turn the tables on the Friars prior to the halftime break.
Â
Jesuit began to put the pressure on the Friars out of the gate in the second half as Lynch committed a foul moments after halftime to give Jesuit a free kick 35 yards out. Sierra took the free kick, which was saved by the Lynch goalkeeper but drifted back to senior
Stratton Ross, who ripped the rebound into the back of the net to tie the game, 1-1, in the 38th minute.
Â
The Rangers took the lead in the 42nd minute after Sierra was fouled in the box while running unguarded towards the net with the ball. Junior
Benton Bacile took the penalty and beat the Lynch keeper to the right side to give Jesuit its first lead of the game. The Ranger defense took over from that point forward, holding Bishop Lynch without a shot in the second half en route to clinching the victory.
Â
After Friday's storms postponed the second set of Meintser Tournament games, Jesuit took the field to battle a Belton team that reached the UIL Area Round last season en route to a 19-2-2 record. The Rangers withstood 10 shots from the Tigers in the first half, but Belton was able to score off a corner kick in the 40th minute. Senior
Diego Celorio and junior
Sullivan Scott recorded Jesuit's two shots on goal in the loss.

Jesuit Dallas will close non-district play on Friday as the Rangers will travel to Garland to battle Sachse. Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. from Homer B. Johnson Stadium in Garland.
