Rangers Finish Dual Meet Season Unbeaten After Sweeping Frisco Tri-Meet

For the first time since joining the University Interscholastic League (UIL) in 2004, the Jesuit Dallas swimming and diving team finished the regular season unbeaten in dual matches with a sweep of Frisco Wakeland and Frisco Independence on Thursday. Jesuit moved to 9-0 on the season by defeating Frisco Wakeland, 118-67 and secured a 145-40 win over Frisco Independence.
 
Jesuit secured 10 event victories at the event as junior Will McKinney, sophomore James Savarese and sophomore Jackson Summers secured two events each. Summers set a new team-best time with a 50.27 in the 100 free, earning his second win of the meet with a 22.88 in the 50 free. McKinney added a 1:59.67 to win the 200 I.M., then captured the 100 breast with a 1:02.59. Savarese scored a win in the 200 free, hitting the wall in 1:54.99 before scoring another win with a 57.36 in the 100 back.
 
Junior Jack Young continued to garner momentum in diving, picking up the win with a team-best score of 215.5. Fellow junior Ryan Peckham secured the 500 free with a time of 4:58.99 while sophomore Alexander Hung capped Jesuit's individual first place finishes with a 55.07 in the 100 fly.
 
Jesuit's 400 free relay team of Peckham, Summers, Savarese and McKinney finished the meet with a victorious, 3:21.71 team relay time. Jesuit's 200 medley team (Savarese, McKinney, Ivan Lopez, Summers) and 200 free relay team (Hung, Ryan Brown, Peckham, Lopez) each finished in second place with respective times of 1:42.71 and 1:33.84. Lopez added a 55.82 to finish second in the 100 fly, Brown tacked on a second-place, 59.93 in the 100 back and freshman Palmer Bowman secured second-place finishes in the 200 (1:55.95) and 500 free (5:00.03).
 
With the dual meet schedule in the rear view mirror, the Rangers can begin to focus on the postseason. Jesuit will aim for its seventh district championship on Friday, Jan. 24 at the District 8-6A Championship, set to begin with the 9 a.m. diving session at the Alfred J. Loos Natatorium. The swimming portion of district will begin at 2 p.m. on Jan. 24.
