Jesuit Falls to McKinney in Spring Season Kickoff

Jesuit returned to AT&T Metroplex Hockey League action on Thursday, but McKinney scored three unanswered goals in the first period en route to handing Jesuit an 8-2 setback at the StarCenter in Richardson. McKinney narrowly outshot the Rangers, 30-27, but Jesuit was unable to overcome a strong performance by McKinney netminder Jayden Hofmeister, who racked up 25 saves to hold off the Jesuit comeback.

Sophomore Santiago Diaz scored two points for the Rangers, scoring a goal while adding an assist. Sophomore Nick Boss secured the Rangers' second goal of the contest midway through the third period. Junior Joshua Reinboldt made 16 saves in net after sophomore Arthur Trapp secured six saves.

McKinney scored its first goal of the game 4:30 into the opening period, capitalizing on the power play for an early, 1-0 lead. The visitors would add goals at the 8:13 and 7:02 mark to go into the first intermission with a 3-0 lead. Diaz scored unassisted early in the second period to stop the McKinney scoring run, but a shorthanded goal by McKinney sparked three more unanswered goals, forcing Jesuit to force a 6-1 deficit with 11:39 left in the second.

After Boss scored off of a feed by Diaz midway through the third, but McKinney kept Jesuit at bay over the final moments of regulation.

Heading into the final four weeks of the regular season, Jesuit Dallas is currently in second place with 25 points. The Rangers are seven points ahead of third-place Highland Park and 10 points behind division leader Frisco, a team that is on a four-game winning streak alongside a 9-1-0 record over its last 10 games. Jesuit Dallas will return to action for a jam-packed week to close January. The Rangers will battle Frisco on Thursday at 8:30 p.m., then head into the Texas Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) State Championship series over the weekend.

Jesuit will open the three-game series against Allen at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday before game two takes place at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. If needed, a decisive third game will take place at 11 a.m. on Sunday. All three games are scheduled to take place at the Valley Ranch StarCenter.
