Senior Seth Dragojevic scored on a five-on-three power play midway through the third period, helping lead Jesuit to its first win of the season following a 3-2 victory over Flower Mound on Thursday at Farmers Branch. One of three members of the Ranger team to light the lamp, the Rangers toppled one of the top teams in the division in a return to form for the two-time defending Texas Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) Division I Pure State Champions.
 
Junior Santiago Diaz finished the game leading the team with two points, assisting on the team's first goal of the game before adding one of his own shorthanded in the second. Senior William Carney impressed with a 40-save performance, including 24 saves in the second and a shutout in the third. Sophomore Ryan Virkar scored the first goal of his career to jumpstart the Jesuit offense while seniors Miles Dikun and James McCown each added assists.
 
Virkar scored off a feed from Dikun and Diaz to give Jesuit an early lead. Diaz shook off an early holding penalty and scored his first goal of the season shorthanded to give Jesuit a two-goal lead. Flower Mound cut the lead in half with 9:02 remaining in the second, sending the game into the third with Jesuit holding a 2-1 lead.
 
Flower Mound committed penalties at the 8:52 and 8:04 mark to give the Rangers a five-on-three power play. Dragojevic picked up a feed from McCown and sent it into the twine for his first goal of the season, giving Jesuit a one-goal lead with 7:51 remaining. Carney and the Jesuit defense took over from that point, holding Flower Mound scoreless in the period and even withstanding a 55-second defensive stand at the end of the game which saw Flower Mound pull its goalie for an extra attacker.
 
Jesuit will face off against Plano West next Thursday. Next week's game will mark a return to form for the long-time rivals after being placed in separate divisions last year. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. from the Plano StarCenter.
