Rangers Fall to Southlake Carroll on Late Third Period Goal

Junior Santiago Diaz scored two goals for the Rangers, but Southlake Carroll lit the lamp with 5:04 left in regulation to hand Jesuit a 3-2 loss on Thursday at the Richardson StarCenter.

Junior Charlie Cohen, senior Jack Sweda and fourth year Seth Dragojevic picked up assists on Diaz's two goals of the evening, which push the junior's season total to four on the year. Diaz is currently tied with freshman Charlie McCarthy for the team lead with seven points while Dragojevic picked up his team-leading fourth assist of the year.

In goal, junior Arthur Trapp picked up 12 saves before freshman Andrew Zang took over responsibilities in the crease and made 10 saves on the day. Southlake Carroll scored a pair of unanswered goals in the second period to take the lead after Diaz scored in the first. Diaz looked to put the Rangers in position for overtime with a goal early in the third, but Southlake Carroll retook the lead with 5:04 left and held on over the final moments of the third, which included 1:49 of a man-up advantage with the net empty.

Jesuit returns to action on Thursday, Dec. 10 against Frisco. Puck drop is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. from the Plano StarCenter.
