Jesuit Dallas shut out Highland Park on Thursday night to clinch one of the top two seeds in the upcoming AT&T Metroplex Hockey League City Championship Tournament on Thursday at the Richardson StarCenter. The Rangers, who secured the 2020 TAHA Division I Pure State Championship last weekend with a three-game series win over Allen, were anchored by a hat trick by senior
Chase Phillips as four members of the Jesuit lineup lit the lamp.
Â
Phillips tied sophomore
Santiago Diaz for the team lead in points with three goals and two assists. Diaz added two goals and three assists while sophomore
Nick Boss and Matthew Craycraft each added a goal. Junior
Miles Dikun and senior
Bennett Croskey secured assists as senior netminder
Jack Rahlfs made 34 saves to secure the shutout.

In the first period, Phillips scored twice to put the Rangers ahead early as the Blue and Gold withstood 19 first period shots from the Scots. Craycraft's tally early in the second period put the Rangers up by three before Diaz scored seconds later to increase the lead to four. Phillips finished the hat trick 4:34 into the third period off of passes by Diaz and Croskey before Diaz scored his team-leading 21st goal of the season to put the Rangers up, 6-0. Boss' unassisted goal with 1:56 left capped a dominating performance.

The victory assures Jesuit one of the top seeds in the upcoming city championships, which are set to begin on Feb. 20. Four of the six teams in the varsity gold division will compete for the city championship in a three-game tournament which will start with two semifinal games at the Richardson StarCenter before the championship game takes place in Farmers Branch on Feb. 27. Two games remain in the regular season, and Jesuit will begin the homestretch on Thursday against Allen. Puck drop is scheduled for 6:45 p.m. at the StarCenter in Richardson, Texas.
