Stalwart Defense Helps Jesuit Forge Tie Against Plano East

Jesuit Dallas was able to withstand a determined offensive effort by Plano East and tie the Panthers, 0-0, on Wednesday at Postell Stadium. The contest, originally scheduled for Tuesday night but postponed by weather, will send the Rangers into the second circuit of district place trailing Prosper for the final playoff berth in UIL District 9-6A.

Plano East outshot the Rangers, 14-9, forcing the Ranger goalkeepers to make five saves. Senior Tom Jubin made four saves in the second half after classmate Geoff Millr stopped a shot on goal in the first half. Senior Stratton Ross fired Jesuit's lone shot on goal, an attempt in the first half off of a corner kick by sophomore Arnold Perez-Valenzuela.

Junior Ryan Shea recorded four shots, senior Diego Sierra added two shots while Perez-Valenzuela and junior Reid Weinberger each launched a shot. Jesuit had three corner kicks, compared to the four launched by Plano East, as the Rangers were able to procure free kicks off of six Plano East fouls.

The Rangers will return to action on Tuesday, Feb. 18 against Plano West. Jesuit defeated the Wolves, 5-1, in the district opener on Jan. 21. Jesuit will return to Postell Stadium on Friday, Feb. 21 to face McKinney Boyd.
