Five goals by senior
Billy Metz set the pace as Jesuit outscored Frisco, 11-1, in the second half to secure a season-opening, 19-4 win on Saturday at Postell Stadium. Three Rangers racked up hat tricks as the Jesuit dominated the face-off "x" while using a convincing advantage in possession to kick off the 2020 season with a solid performance at home.

Tommy Hovivian tied Metz for the team lead in points, scoring three points while adding two assists for five total points. Junior

Senior defenseman
Jack Selner scored his first goal of the year while securing three ground balls. The Rangers only allowed three clearance attempts by Frisco in the second half and forced turnovers on six of Frisco's 14 total clear attempts.

Juniors
Mason Chandler and
Henry Suarez served as key catalysts in the contest, helping Jesuit win 25-of-27 faceoffs. Chandler went a perfect 15-of-15 from the "x" while Suarez snagged 10 faceoff wins while adding his first goal of the season. Junior goalkeeper
Daniel LePino made three saves in his varsity debut for his first Jesuit victory.

Quick tallies by Metz and Fernandes over the first two minutes of the game put the Rangers ahead before Frisco broke up the run with 6:43 remaining in the opening quarter. Jesuit would carry a 4-2 lead into the second, then score three unanswered goals for a 7-2 advantage. Selner scored unassisted with five seconds remaining until halftime to give Jesuit an 8-3 lead at the break.

In the second half, Metz completed the hat trick 58 seconds into the third, propelling Jesuit to a seven-goal lead before Frisco scored with 6:29 left in the quarter. The Ranger defense would not allow Frisco to score another goal as Jesuit finished the game on a nine-goal run. Hovivian completed his hat trick with 2:44 remaining in the third, Metz scored with eight seconds left in the quarter to score his fifth and Vlasimsky wrapped up his hat trick with back-to-back goals late in the fourth quarter.

The Rangers will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15 against The Woodlands. Jesuit defeated the The Woodlands, 8-7, in Houston last season to snap a three-game skid against the Highlanders. Saturday's game will start a run of three home games in seven days for the Rangers, who will host Prosper on Feb. 20 and Austin Westlake on Feb. 22.
