Rangers Control Second Half to Turn Aside Lake Travis Upset Bid

3/8/2020 12:35:00 PM

Jesuit Dallas outscored Lake Travis, 7-3 in the second half to remain unbeaten with a 10-6 win over the Cavaliers on Saturday at Postell Stadium. The Rangers will take a 7-0 record into a Tuesday showdown against Flower Mound, a game which will also conclude an eight game, season-opening home stand.

Senior Tommy Hovivian led the way with a hat trick as the Jesuit Dallas offense saw eight different players score goals. Senior Jack Selner scored a transition tally as a long-stick midfielder as senior Billy Metz picked up his 14th goal of the season.

Juniors Tilt Fernandes, Sam Teachout and Caiden Vlasimsky scored one goal each as sophomore McAllister Hobbs concluded a four-goal week with a tally on Saturday. Freshman Cameron Martin tacked on another tally for Jesuit as the Rangers flipped the script on the Cavaliers after Lake Travis pushed the game to a 3-3 tie at halftime.

Junior Mason Chandler took over at the faceoff "x" in the second half and provided the opportunity for the Rangers to score the dominant second half outing following another strong face-off performance by junior Henry Suarez. The Jesuit defense held firm against a late Lake Travis push.

The Rangers will return to action on Tuesday against Flower Mound. The 7:30 p.m. faceoff on Tuesday will end Jesuit's eight game, season-opening homestand. Over the first seven games of the year, Jesuit has outscored opponents, 101-66 at Postell Stadium and have earned a pair of Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) divisional victories.
