Sy Mendenhall scored three tries for the Rangers, but a trio of unanswered tries by Westlake sent the Chaparrals past the Rangers, 31-28, on Saturday in Austin. The Rangers will return to Postell Stadium for the Jesuit Dallas Rugby Showdown on Mar. 14-15.

Mendenhall opened the scoring with an early first half try as senior
Mitchell Campbell converted the kick to give Jesuit an early 7-0 lead. Campbell would score a try of his own on a breakaway to return Jesuit to a seven-point lead after a Westlake try, but the Chaps would tie the game again off of a penalty. Campbell intercepted the Chaps and found Mendenhall for another Jesuit try as the teams continued to trade scores into the second half.

Westlake began its game-breaking run with12 minutes remaining in the second half, taking a 10-point lead late in regulation. Mendenhall broke through in the waning moments, but the deficit was too much to overcome for the Blue and Gold.
