Following an 80-77 setback on Jan. 9, the Jesuit Dallas Rangers showed a significant defensive improvement and stifled the high-scoring Richardson offense on Tuesday night at Walsh Gym. However, the Rangers fell one possession shy of pulling off a huge upset as four-star Class of 2021 prospect Rylan Griffin hit the game-winning fade away at the buzzer help the Eagles escape the grasp of the Rangers once again with a 52-50 win.

Gavin Perryman excelled once again on the big stage, scoring 24 points and hitting four three-pointers. Senior
Conor Moore set a new career high with 16 rebounds, scoring 10 points for his fifth double double of the year. The Ranger defense held Richardson's Cason Wallace, a five-star prospect who scored 28 points in the first meeting between the two teams, to 6-of-10 shooting and 17 points.Â

Shane Hatzmann secured three rebounds, a steal and an assist in his return to action. Senior
Camden Roy picked up four rebounds and a team-leading three assists, helping Jesuit score 22 points in the paint. Jesuit's perimeter defenders held Richardson to a 2-of-12 clip from three-point range.
Richardson led by five points with 58 seconds left in regulation, but a Moore free throw cut the lead to two. With 30 seconds left, Perryman sliced through the Eagle defense for a layup, and a Richardson turnover on the ensuing possession gave Moore the ball in the restricted circle for an easy game-tying layup with 18 seconds remaining in regulation. Wallace imbounded the ball to Griffen, who hit the fadeaway over a double-team for the Richardson win.
Jesuit will return to action on Wednesday against Irving H.S. at 6 p.m. The showdown between the Rangers and the Tigers will be Jesuit's second of three games this week as the Rangers will wrap up the week on Friday at J.J. Pearce.
