A persistent Lake Highlands defense forced 13 Jesuit Dallas turnovers and held the Blue and Gold to a 23.5 percent clip from three-point range as the Wildcats defeated the Rangers, 61-51, on Tuesday at Walsh Gym.

Conor Moore scored a career-high 22 points, earning a double-double with 10 rebounds. Finishing the evening shooting 9-of-13 from the field and 4-of-5 from the free-throw line, Moore has secured a double-double in four of his last six games, and has scored 10 or more points in six consecutive contests. Gavin Perryman added 16 points to the Jesuit effort, shooting 6-of-15 from the field and securing six rebounds along with a team-high four assists. Senior

Trailing by 12 points at halftime, Jesuit opened the third quarter shooting 6-of-9 for a 15-4 run that cut the Wildcat lead down to one point. However, a 13-2 run by the Wildcats that spanned the end of the third quarter and nearly three minutes of the fourth returned the lead to double digits. Jesuit made one final push at the lead and cut the deficit to five points with 1:18 left with a 14-7 run, but Lake Highlands went 5-of-7 in free throw attempts over the final 90 seconds of regulation to hold off the Ranger rally.
Jesuit will return to Walsh Gym on Friday, Jan. 29 to host MacArthur, aiming for a season sweep of the Cardinals. The Rangers won the first meeting between the two teams, 75-63, on Jan. 5 in Irving. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday.
