Jesuit Dallas Celebrates First Four Signees of 2021-22 Year

11/10/2021 8:09:00 AM

Three members of the Jesuit Dallas lacrosse program and a baseball student-athlete announced their commitments on Wednesday, Nov. 10 as the Ranger athletic department celebrated the first signing day of the 2021-22 academic year in the Terry Center.

Jesuit saw collegiate commitments from Jay Hooker (Lacrosse, Univ. of Mary Washington), Connor Knight (Lacrosse, Univ. of Richmond), Jake Storey (Baseball, Univ. of Northern Colorado) and Jackson Strauser (Lacrosse, Southwestern University).

Both Hooker and Strauser have played key roles for the Rangers during their tenures in Blue and Gold, providing a splash for a Jesuit Dallas lacrosse program that won the third Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) State Championship last May. Knight was a THSLL All-State selection last season who was also named the THSLL Tournament MVP following a stellar championship weekend. Knight finished the weekend with 26 saves, including 17 in the state title game against Highland Park.

Storey was named to the All-District 7-6A team last spring after finishing the year 10-0 on the mound, the most wins for a Ranger starting pitcher since 2016. Finishing the season with a 0.57 earned run average, Storey struck out 63 batters while only allowing four earned runs.

Wednesday's signing day is in line with the first early decision date, which runs through Nov. 17. The next signing period is the early football commitment signing, which begins on Dec. 15.
