Jesuit Dallas shot 51 percent from the floor, 41 percent from three-point range, and held off a late run by Lewisville to open the year 1-0 for the seventh consecutive season with a 64-62 win over Lewisville on Saturday afternoon at South Oak Cliff H.S.

Ben Johnson led the team with 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting, which included four made three-pointers. Junior
Ryan McCormick made a splash in his varsity debut, securing 15 points with a team-leading eight rebounds. Senior
Sky Tschurr buried a trio of three-pointers for a nine-point outing while seniors Samuel Dunkerley and
Grant Kostos picked up six points each. Senior
Dylan Gibbons filled the score sheet with six points, five rebounds and a team-leading six assists.

The Rangers trailed Lewisville by six with 7:26 left in the opening quarter, but flipped the script on the Fighting Farmers with a 13-2 run that saw Jesuit hit 4-of-5 shots, three of which came from behind the arc. Lewisville battled back and tied the game in the third, causing the two teams to battle back and forth during a game that saw 10 lead changes and nine ties.

Johnson hit a key three-pointer with 16 seconds left in the third to give Jesuit the lead going into the fourth, and Jesuit held Lewisville off by shooting 3-for-3 from the field and 3-for-4 from the free throw line in the fourth.

Jesuit will travel to Mesquite for a non-district game on Tuesday, Nov. 16. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Mesquite H.S.
