Offense Stays Red Hot as Rangers Defeat Berkner, 7-1

Seniors Ryan Shea and Cullen Scott kept their goal scoring streak in full gear, combining for seven goals and earning a hat trick each as Jesuit Dallas picked up another dominating decision, 7-1, over Berkner on Tuesday in Richardson. Four goals from Scott led the charge as Jesuit stayed unbeaten in district ahead of a key showdown with district foe Irving H.S. on Friday.

Despite seeing a shutout streak that lasted longer than 200 minutes snapped by the Rams, Jesuit used an offensive onslaught to pick up the key road victory and move to 4-0-1 in league play. The Rangers recorded 17 shots, 15 of which were on goal, while sophomore Goalkeeper Cole Hines recorded three saves in net. Scott started the scoring in the 11th minute off of assists from Shea and junior Arnold Perez-Valenzuela, then added his second tally of the game in the 30th minute off of a feed from Shea.

Scott picked up his second hat trick in three games early in the second half, taking a penalty kick in the 48th minute. Shea took over from that point, scoring his first of the game in the 50th minute off of a feed from senior Spence Gilker before scoring in the 56th and 57th minutes. Scott wrapped his four-goal game in the 58th minute off a pass from junior Zach Poen.

Jesuit will take on Irving on Friday at 4:15 p.m. at Postell Stadium. The Tigers are 4-0-1 on the year and gave up their first district goal of the season on Tuesday in a 1-1 tie against J.J. Pearce. The Rangers last met Irving on Feb. 26, 2016, as Christian Lerma '18 scored late to help Jesuit best the Tigers, 2-1, at home.
