A hard-fought, comeback win sparked the Jesuit baseball team to its second straight sweep on Friday, as the Rangers scored four runs in the fifth inning to defeat Weatherford, 5-1 before scoring their first shutout of the season, 6-0, over Abilene to close out another unbeaten day.

Jesuit was no-hit over the first four innings of the contest, and entered the top of the fifth trailing, 1-0. Senior
Drew Messick reached base on an error by the Weatherford shortstop, and moved into scoring position after junior
Jake Storey was hit by a pitch. A double steal put Messick at third and senior pinch runner
Charlie McCollum at second, and Jesuit scored the tying run on an error by the Kangaroos. A wild pitch scored McCollum to give Jesuit a 2-1 lead before junior
Myles Tucker launched a single through the right side for the Rangers' first run of the game, scoring juniors
Cash Riley and
David Long to give Jesuit a 4-1 lead.

Senior pitcher
JJ Luna, who had only given up one run on three hits prior to the rally, settled in and worked his way out of a lead-off single in the fifth before retiring the final eight Weatherford batters in order to secure the win. Luna struck out six over the complete game effort to earn his first win of the season. Junior
Tommy Delaney drove home Tucker in the top of the seventh inning to provide a critical insurance run for the Rangers.

Against Abilene, senior
Clayton Jackson dominated his first start of the year, striking out 11 batters over 5.1 innings and only allowing two hits. Jesuit scored two in the top of the first; one on an error by the catcher during a stolen base attempt by senior

The Rangers would close out the day with three runs in the seventh, as a single through the right side gave Tucker his third RBI of the day, Chavez singled to center score Lawlar and Delaney drove in his third run of the afternoon with a sacrifice fly to center.
