Rangers Secure Second Straight District Shutout, Blank Nimitz, 5-0

Senior Cullen Scott concluded a stellar week with another multi-goal outing, scoring twice to propel Jesuit to a 5-0 win over Nimitz on Friday at Postell Stadium. Senior Ryan Shea recorded his third goal of the week and first multi-goal game of the year, sophomore goalkeeper Cole Hines secured his fifth shutout win of the season and Jesuit remained unbeaten in district play ahead of a busy week which will culminate with a battle for first place against Irving on Friday.

A goal by Alec Gomez completed the Jesuit Dallas scoresheet, as senior Benton Bacile helped get the scoring started in the 26th minute. Bacile took a shot from outside the 18 that was blocked but deflected to the waiting foot of Scott who put Jesuit ahead with the early tally. After a shot by senior Spence Gilker was blocked in the 34th minute, Scott fed Shea for a quick shot into the bottom right corner for a two-goal lead. Nimitz committed a penalty in the box with 14 seconds remaining in the first half, and Gomez put Jesuit up by three at the break with his third goal of the season.

Shea and senior Kyle Visintainer assisted on Scott's second goal of the game in the 51st minute, as Jesuit took advantage of a numbers advantage for its fourth goal of the contest. Gilker picked up an assist on Shea's second goal of the game, launching a corner kick that was headed in by the University of Chicago signee in the 68th minute.
