Jesuit scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth to break a 7-7 tie, capturing a 9-7 win over J.J. Pearce in a wild, back-and-forth affair on Tuesday night at Wright Field. The Rangers scored seven runs over the last three innings of the game, shaking off a comeback by Pearce in the fifth with two runs in the bottom of the inning to tie the game before taking the lead heading into the final frame.

Senior
Jordan Lawlar launched the definitive hit of the game, a three-run triple to deep center field with the bases loaded that flipped the game from a two-run deficit for the Rangers to a one-run lead in the fourth. Senior
Gavin Perryman additionally drove in two runs on two hits while junior
Cash Riley went 3-for-3 from the plate, scoring one while recording an RBI. Additional RBI from seniors
Gardner Lawrence and
Drew Messick completed the scoresheet for the Rangers.

On the mound, senior
David Day earned the win after throwing three innings of relief and allowing one run on three hits while striking out four batters. The senior worked his way out of jams in all three innings he threw, leaving six Mustang baserunners stranded during his outing. Senior
Tucker Huhn started for the Blue and Gold, striking out six over four innings.

Jesuit trailed by two in the fourth after a Mustang home run added a critical insurance tally to the scoreboard. Junior
David Long earned a one-out walk before singles by Riley and senior
Connor Chavez loaded the bases. Lawlar worked his way into a hitters' count, barely missing the 3-1 pitch and fouling it back into the screen. However, he would not miss the ensuing pitch, barreling the throw from Mustang starter Jack Livingstone to deep center field, landing in the warning track to score three.

The fifth saw Pearce re-take the lead with three runs on three hits and two Jesuit errors, but the Rangers were able to manufacture two runs to tie the game once again. Perryman singled up the middle before a walk to junior
Tommy Delaney put two on with one out.

Walker Houdek moved into scoring position on a wild pitch before Lawrence drove in Perryman on an RBI ground out, cutting the lead to one. Riley rocketed an 0-1 pitch up the middle to score Houdek and tie the game once again.

In the seventh, Lawlar got on base with a line drive to center field. The speedy senior stole second, and then attempted to steal third during the same at-bat, a seven-pitch battle at the plate by senior
Nick Lazzara. Lawlar made the break for third and slid in safely, but the throw was off line and trickled back to the visitor side bullpen, allowing the opening for Lawlar to reach home for the go-ahead run.

With two outs in the inning, Perryman hit a single through the left side to score senior
Charlie McCollum and provide Day with the two-run cushion heading into the top of the seventh.

The Rangers will face a quick turnaround as Jesuit and JJ Pearce will meet again on Thursday evening in Richardson, Texas. Jesuit will conclude a busy spring break week on Saturday, when the Rangers will start their two-game series against Lake Highlands on the road. Jesuit will welcome Lake Highlands to Wright Field on Tuesday evening.
