Jesuit came storming back from a first half deficit, remaining unbeaten on the year with a 28-20 win over Allen on Friday at Erickson Middle School. The Rangers complete the season sweep of the Eagles and add a critical bonus point in the district standings as the Blue and Gold head into the home stretch of the regular season.
Â
Allen scored 10 unanswered points to start the contest before the Rangers began their comeback run. Senior
Sy Mendenhall broke off a long run to score the Rangers' first points of the game before senior
Jack Judson found pay dirt off of a line out to give Jesuit its first lead of the game. Allen scored a penalty at the end of the first half, cutting Jesuit's lead to 14-13 at the break, but senior
Luke Aldinger scored a try that was aided by the third conversion of the day from
Dimitri Papanicolau to give Jesuit an eight-point lead.
Â
The Eagles would score with five minutes left to cut the Jesuit Dallas lead to one, but Mendenhall came up clutch with a late score, pushing the lead to eight to make the contest a two-possession game with four minutes remaining to end the Allen comeback.
Â
Jesuit will return to action on Apr. 10, when the team travels to take on the Plano Rugby Club at 2 p.m. before returning to Postell Stadium for home games against St. Thomas (Houston) on Apr. 16 and Alliance Rugby Club on Apr. 23.
