Jesuit Starts Collin County Invite with Back-to-Back Shutout Wins

Jesuit Dallas erupted for a 10-run inning for the second straight week, securing a four-inning, run-rule win in its home opener on Thursday at Wright Field with a 13-0 victory over Denison. The Rangers would complete the sweep of the first day of the Collin County Invitational with a 10-0 win over Crandall.
 
Seniors Nick Lazzara, Gardner Lawrence and junior Myles Tucker hit doubles for the Rangers as Lawrence, senior Connor Chavez and junior David Long drove in two runs apiece. Junior Jake Storey threw for the Rangers, earning the two-hit shutout with four strikeouts.
 
Jesuit was able to score 10 runs on four hits and two errors in the bottom of the third, as Chavez, junior Tommy Delaney, junior Walker Houdek and senior Drew Messick were hit by pitch on consecutive at bats with the bases loaded to score four runs. Lawrence drove a single to right that plated Delaney before a two-run single by Long scored Messick and Houdek to cap Jesuit's scoring.
 
Senior David Day led the way against Crandall, firing a shutout of his own and only allowing three hits over four innings while striking out four batters. Tucker went 3-for-3 from the plate with two RBI and a triple while senior Jordan Lawlar drove in a run and went 1-for-2 with a double. Junior Cash Riley tacked on triple of his own while Messick, Lawrence and Lazzara each drove in runs.
 
The Rangers opened the game with five runs in the bottom of the first, opening the scoring on a single to second by Tucker that scored Lawlar. Lazzara forced a bases loaded walk, Messick was hit by pitch with the bases loaded and Lawrence forced another walk to score three additional runs before Lazzara scored on a wild pitch to bring the lead up to five runs.
