Early Offense Sparks Jesuit to Run-Rule Win Over Berkner

Jesuit racked up 10 runs in the first two innings en route to a 14-1, run-rule victory over Berkner on Friday in Richardson, Texas. Jesuit displayed another stellar night of patience and composure at the plate, working their way to eight walks to go along with seven hits as the Rangers pushed a season-long win streak to 10 games.

Seniors Gardner Lawrence, Nick Lazzara and Grant Senick drove in two runs apiece while Nick Barber, Connor Chavez, Tommy Delaney, Drew Messick, Gavin Perryman, Cash Riley, Jake Storey and Myles Tucker each recorded an RBI. On the mound, senior Tucker Huhn quieted the Rams' bats, holding 18 batters faced to one run on three hits while striking out four batters.

Jesuit's key inning game in the top of the second, when the Blue and Gold racked up eight runs on three hits. Perryman reached on error to start the frame and scored on a single to center by Storey. Chavez picked up a sacrifice fly to right that plated senior Charlie McCollum for Jesuit's second run of the inning and setting the stage for six runs to close the frame, all of which came with two outs in the inning. Lawrence ripped a single to center with the bases loaded to build the lead to nine runs before Riley's bases loaded walk pushed Jesuit into double digits.

The top of the fifth saw the Ranges add four more hits to their total. Senick ripped a single to left that scored Chavez and senior Dakota Salazar, Barber's single to center scored Senick and Delaney was hit by pitch to plate Barber to close the team's scoring.

The Rangers will return to action on Tuesday, when Jesuit welcomes Berkner to Wright Field for a Tuesday series finale. First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Dallas.
