Jesuit Dallas baseball celebrated the 17 members of the senior class prior to Friday's game, and a senior-filled lineup propelled the Blue and Gold to an 8-1 win over Irving on Friday at Wright Field. The Rangers hang onto their two-game lead in District 7-6A with the win, and close the week with their 12-game winning streak intact.
Senior
Drew Messick finished the game 2-for-3, recording a double, triple and two RBI. Senior
Jordan Lawlar added a pair of hits, driving in a run while seniors
Connor Chavez,
Gardner Lawrence,
Jack Mason,
Charlie McCollum and
Grant Senick each recorded hits. Chavez additionally stole home on a triple steal in the fourth inning, later converting a squeeze play that would score McCollum to increase the Jesuit lead to six runs.
On the mound, senior
Gavin Perryman picked up the win after striking out seven batters and allowing two hits over four innings. Senior
George Austin started for the Rangers while
JJ Luna and
David Day threw the sixth and seventh innings, respectively, and combined to no-hit the Tigers over the final two frames to close out the win.
The Rangers will next travel to Irving H.S. to face the Tigers on Tuesday before hosting second-place Richardson on Friday. Jesuit Dallas will enter the week with the hopes of clinching the eighth district title in program history and first since 2016.
