Jesuit Captures 14th Straight Win with Comeback Against Richardson

Jesuit Dallas trailed for the first time in a district game since Mar. 16 but stormed back with three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth to secure a 7-2 win over Richardson on Saturday at Wright Field. Assured of the district championship, Jesuit will enter Tuesday's regular season finale with a 14-game win streak and the opportunity to secure the program's first unbeaten run through district in six years.

With the Rangers trailing, 2-1, in the third, senior Jordan Lawlar sparked the comeback with a stellar run on the basepaths. After battling his way back from an 0-2 count to earn a full count walk, Lawlar stole second base to move into scoring position. The senior then stole third and was able to take home base on a throwing error by the Eagle catcher to tie the contest at 2-2.

Senior Nick Lazzara broke the tie in the bottom of the fifth, launching a single to right that scored junior Myles Tucker, who reached base with a one-out single. Senior Drew Messick launched a two-run single to right that scored seniors Charlie McCollum and Jordan Lawlar to propel Jesuit to a 5-2 lead. Lawlar knocked in his second RBI of the game in the sixth after reaching base with a fielder's choice, and senior Connor Chavez completed Jesuit's scoring by scoring on a passed ball. Lawlar drove in his first run of the day in the first with a sacrifice fly to center which scored Chavez.

Junior Jake Storey picked up his ninth win of the year with six innings on the mound and eight strikeouts, moving his season strikeout total to 58 during another convincing effort. Storey has only allowed three earned runs over his 27 district innings thrown and has five or more strikeouts in three of his last five outings. Senior Gavin Perryman closed out the win in the, retiring the Richardson seventh in order.

Jesuit and Richardson will conclude their season series on Tuesday, as the series shifts to Richardson H.S. for a 7 p.m. first pitch.
