Jesuit Dallas dominated Episcopal School of Dallas from the opening whistle, and earned its way to the Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) State Championship game with a 9-3 victory over the Eagles on Saturday at George Turner Stadium in Humble, Texas. The Rangers will battle tournament top seed Highland Park in a matchup of the bracket's top two seeds on Sunday at 2:30 p.m., where Jesuit will aim to capture its third state title since 2016.
Â
Similar to the first matchup between the Rangers and Eagles, Jesuit's defense continued to be an unrelenting force as the Ranger defense has not allowed more than four goals in three straight wins and four out of their last five games. Junior goalkeeper
Connor Knight racked up nine saves on the day, and the Jesuit Dallas defensive corps frustrated the Eagles throughout the matchup.
Â
Offensively, sophomore
Cameron Martin led the way with four goals on the day, including a hat trick in the first quarter that propelled Jesuit to an early, 3-0 lead. Senior
Curran Rose and junior
McAllister Hobbs scored two goals each while senior
Connor Legg added Jesuit's final goal of the contest. The Ranger face-off unit, led by senior
Henry Suarez, went 14-of-15 from the face-off "x", and the fast-paced Jesuit offense recorded assists on eight of their nine goals.
Â
The Rangers will now turn their attention to the Scots, who upended No. 5 The Woodlands, 7-4, earlier in the day. Jesuit Dallas and Highland Park met in the THSLL State Championship game in 2016, a contest that the Rangers won, 9-4, on May 15, 2016 to earn the first state title in program history. The last time that the Rangers and Scots met in the postseason was 2017, a THSLL State Semifinal that Jesuit Dallas won, 8-4.
Â
The two teams split their home-and-home regular season series this year, with Highland Park winning the showdown at Postell Stadium, 11-9 on March 11 before the Rangers returned the favor with a 12-7 win at Highlander Stadium on April 16.
