The Ranger basketball team controlled the pace of Friday's District 7-6A showdown against MacArthur, taking a 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter en route to a convincing, 62-27 victory at Walsh Gym. A pair of double-digit scorers led the way for the Rangers as Jesuit moves to 2-1 in district play.
Senior
Ryan McCormick scored 19 points to lead the team, adding a team-leading six rebounds and a block. Senior
Sky Tschurr went 4-for-4 from three-point range to finish the evening with 12 points, followed by eight points from
Ben Johnson, six points from junior
Owen Berry, five points from senior Samuel Dunkerley, four points from seniors
Will Mansour and
Quinn Mashburn and two points apiece from junior
Tai Kryger and senior
Ryan Leal. Kryger tacked on four rebounds and two steals while junior
Dylan Gibbons led the team with five assists and three steals.
Jesuit shot 54.2 percent from the floor and 42.9 percent from three-point range in the win. The Rangers forced 21 turnovers, which turned into 25 points for the Blue and Gold, and added 34 points in the paint and 13 points off of 12 offensive rebounds.
The Rangers will travel to Irving on Tuesday to battle Nimitz, a showdown that is set for 7 p.m. Jesuit will then host senior night on Friday, Jan. 14 when the Rangers host Berkner.
