Ranger Basketball Opens All Tournament Against Wylie, Lone Star

Jesuit Dallas battled through the first two days of the 2021 Allen In-and-Out Holiday Invitational but dropped decisions to Wylie and Frisco Lone Star. The Rangers fell to the Pirates, 53-43, on Tuesday evening before suffering a 62-55 setback to Lone Star on Dec. 28.
 
Senior Ryan McCormick scored a career-high 25 points against Lone Star, shooting 10-of-14 from the field and adding five converted free throws. The senior added a team-leading seven rebounds and a steal. Three Ranger scored in double digits, as senior Sky Tschurr hit four three-pointers to close out the game with 12 points while senior Ben Johnson scored 10 points on the day. Seniors Grant Kostos, Quinn Mashburn scored two points apiece alongside juniors Dylan Gibbons and Charlie Needham to finish out Jesuit's scoring on the afternoon.
 
Against Wylie, McCormick led the team with 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting, adding three rebounds and a steal. Gibbons scored nine points and led the team with five assists. Johnson secured a team-high five rebounds, senior Will Mansour scored five points, Kostos scored four points and the scoresheet was completed by three points apiece from Johnson, Tschurr, junior Owen Berry and junior Charlie Needham.
 
Jesuit will conclude its tournament run on Wednesday as the Rangers will play two games on the day. The Rangers' first game of the day is set for 9:30 a.m. as the Blue and Gold battles Cibolo Steele, and the tournament run will conclude later in the afternoon as Jesuit battles Plano East at 3:30 p.m. Both games will take place in the Allen H.S. auxiliary gym.
