Jesuit Dallas won two out of three relay races, picked up individual district championships in five events and will send 24 entries to the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region II-6A meet en route to capturing its third straight District 8-6A Championship on Friday at the Loos Swimming Pool in Addison, Texas. The Rangers toppled an upset bid from J.J. Pearce with several clutch performances late, capped by a 400 free relay by nearly broke a seven-year old meet record.

Leonardo Pelaez won the final event of the afternoon by over eight seconds, recording a 3:13.51 total relay time that was one-tenth of a second shy of the meet record set by Highland Park in 2015.
William Savarese would go on to be named the Swimmer of the Meet after picking up victories in the 200 I.M. and the 500 free. Savarese swam a 1:55.00 in the 200 I.M., winning the event by five seconds, before clocking a 4:35.27 in the 500 free to capture another dominating win.
Pelaez won the 100 free, out-dueling Pearce's Will Stibor and winning by 0.34 seconds with a 48.65. The junior led a 1-2 finish with
James Savarese in the 200 free, winining the event in 1:43.78 while Savarese finished with a 1:48.76 to qualify for regionals. Pelaez, William Savarse, senior
Charles Henderson and Hung opened the meet with a victorious 1:37.94 in the 200 medley relay, a time that again nearly set a meet record, falling 0.2 seconds short of the record set by Pearce in 2017. Henderson picked up a win of his own in the 100 fly, swimming a 53.81 to secure the victory with Hung placing second with a 55.48.

Samuel Steffler was Jesuit's top finisher in the 50 free, placing second with a 22.68. Sophomores
Thatch Balady and Sam An finished second and third, respectfully, in the one-meter dive event, with Balady recording Jesuit's top score of 311.85. The convincing, full team performance resulted in 190 points for Jesuit, which was enough to win the district championship over Pearce's point total of 154. The Mustangs continued their domination on the girls' side of the district meet, securing 247 points to comfortably clinch district over Richardson.
The 2021-22 district championship is the ninth in program history and the Jesuit swimming and diving program's fifth since the 2014-15 season. Jesuit finishes the 2020-22 alignment with a pair of district swimming and diving titles in tow, and will look to continue its dominance once the new swimming and diving alignments are announced later this winter.
Jesuit will now focus on the Region II-6A meet, which will start on Friday at the LISD Westside Natatorium in Lewisville, Texas. The two-day meet will start on Friday at 3 p.m. with preliminaries before finals at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
