A stifling defense and quick-counter offense propelled No. 13 Lake Highlands to an early lead and the Wildcats rode the early momentum to a 60-32 win over Jesuit on Tuesday at Walsh Gym. The Rangers fall to 1-1 in District 7-6A following the setback, but will look to move above .500 on Friday when they host MacArthur at home.

Michael Mathie wrapped up Jesuit's scoring with two points each. Jesuit was held to a 23.9 clip from the field while Lake Highlands scored 20 points off of 21 Jesuit turnovers and 38 points in the paint.Â
The Rangers will next battle a MacArthur team in search of its first district win following a 45-37 loss to Nimitz on Tuesday. MacArthur opened district play against Lake Highlands and suffered a 71-28 loss to the Wildcats. Jesuit has won five straight against MacArthur dating back to 2016, and are 6-3 at home against the Cardinals since 1995. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Friday night.
