Last-Minute Interception Seals Homecoming Victory

Senior Grant Peters snagged the game-clinching interception with seven seconds remaining, sending Jesuit Dallas to a 16-12 win over MacArthur on Friday night at Ranger Stadium. The game, delayed by nearly two hours due to weather and pushed to a 8:45 PM kickoff, saw the two teams square off on a saturated Gary Pasqua Field and combine for 81 rushes compared 36 pass attempts.

Peters leapt into the air and intercepted an attempted fade pass from MacArthur quarterback Glendon Casas Willis, putting an end to a potential go-ahead drive from the Cardinals which to that point had spanned 15 plays for 75 yards. Peters finished the game with six tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, a pass break-up and quarterback hurry to go along with the interception. Junior Grayson Wombacher led the team with 11 tackles on the night, recording 0.5 tackles for loss and forcing a fumble that was recovered by senior Will Hanrahan, who added five tackles of his own. Senior Adam Kelly led the team with two tackles for loss, finishing the game with six tackles.

Offensively, senior Charlie Schmidt led the way, completing 17-of-23 pass attempts for 112 yards and two touchdowns. Seniors Cameron Martin and Matty Wagner snagged touchdown receptions while sophomore Jaeger Krauss led the team with three catches for 30 yards. Schmidt led the team in rushing, carrying the ball 20 times for 96 net yards.

Jesuit Dallas will wrap the regular season on a shortened week, heading to Eagle-Mustang Stadium on Thursday, Nov. 3 to battle the Richardson Eagles at 7 p.m.
