Jesuit Dallas took control of its season finale road showdown against Richardson in the second half, outscoring the Eagles, 17-7 en route to a 38-28 win on Thursday at Eagle-Mustang Stadium. The victory sends Jesuit into the postseason with an 8-2 record and will see the Blue and Gold battle Arlington for the third consecutive year in the University Interscholastic League (UIL) Region I-6A Division II Tournament.
Senior quarterback Charlie Schmidt finished the contest with 258 yards passing on 22-of-33 completions and a touchdown, tacking on three rushing touchdowns on 11 carries for 52 total yards. Senior Luke Fawcett secured a career-best 115 yards on eight catches while senior Matty Wagner tacked on another touchdown with a four-yard reception in the third quarter. Senior Reed Pfaffenberger led the team in rushing with 114 yards, scoring a touchdown for Jesuit.
Seniors Blake Miller, Adam Kelly and junior Grayson Wombacher recorded 10 tackles apiece, with Kelly adding a solo and assisted sack. Senior Roark Holman recorded eight tackles, senior Grant Peters added five stops and junior Tristen Bird recorded a solo sack alongside five total tackles. Sophomore Noah McGough converted a 21-yard field goal attempt in the fourth quarter and went 5-for-5 in extra point attempts.
The Rangers will battle Arlington at 7 p.m. at Ranger Stadium on Friday, Nov. 11. Jesuit and the Colts will meet for the fifth straight season and for the third consecutive time in the playoffs. In 2020, Arlington defeated Jesuit Dallas, 49-37, before the Rangers scored a 69-36 win over the Colts last year in the bi-district round. The winner of the bi-district matchup between Jesuit and Arlington will advance to the area round against either Coppell or McKinney.
