The Rangers scored a pair of wins on Tuesday at the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium in Allen, Texas, edging the Eagles, 93-90 while tacking on a 104-76 win over Lovejoy. With the sweep, Jesuit improves to 3-1 on the year ahead of this weekend's Ranger Relays, set for Garland ISD Natatorium.
Jesuit started the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, as the team of sophomore Luke Lary, junior William Savarese, sophomore Flyn Hughes and junior Jaden Giunta swam a 1:42.94 total relay time to out-touch Lovejoy. Savarese would follow with wins in the 200 I.M. (1:51.56) and 500 free (4:33.13), while Hughes tacked on a 56.86 to score a victory in the 100 fly.
The dual meet between Jesuit and Allen came down to the final event, and the Rangers' 400 free relay team responded with a five-second win in the event. The team of Hughes, freshman Sebastian Suwanda, Lary and Savarese hit the wall in 3:24.08, faster than the Eagles' 3:29.82 to clinch the victory for the Blue and Gold. Suwanda would add a second place finish in the 200 free with a 1:52.40, junior Alexander McSorley placed second (24.27) and third (54.71), respectively, in the 50 and 100 free, and the relay team of McSorley, junior Theodore Scherer, Suwanda and Giunta added points to the board with a second place finish in the 200 free relay (1:36.8).
Saturday's Ranger Relays will begin at 11:30 a.m. at the Garland ISD Natatorium. Jesuit will return to dual meet action on Tuesday, Nov. 1 when the Rangers travel to Highland Park H.S. to battle the Scots at 5:45 p.m.
