Rangers Capture Road Win Over Highland Park

Jesuit Dallas put the finishing touches on its fourth win of the season with a meet-clinching, six-second win in the 400 free relay, securing a 99-84 win over Highland Park on the road on Nov. 1.
 
Junior William Savarese won a pair of individual events on the day, capturing victories in the 200 free (1:41.16) and 100 breast (57.93). Savarese would join freshmen Sebastian Suwanda, Luke Lary, and sophomore Flyn Hughes in the victorious 400 free relay, recording a 3:20.93 total relay time to defeat the Scots' time of 3:27.01. Hughes would secure a victory of his own in the 100 fly, hitting the wall in 56.84. Jesuit's final individual victory of the day went to junior Thatch Balady, who scored the win in the one-meter dive with a 189.70 score over the six-dive event.
 
The Rangers secured a bevy of second and third place finishes, critical points in the team standings that ultimately propelled the Blue and Gold to the victory. Junior Alexander McSorley placed second in both the 50 free (24.28) and 100 free (54.32) while Suwanda added a second-place finish in the 500 free (4:59.24) and a third-place finish in the 200 free (1:51.63). Giunta secured a second-place finish (2:09.58) in the 200 I.M., junior Quinton Moats placed third (56.13) in the 100 free, and junior Theodore Scherer tacked on a third-place finish in the 50 free (24.63).
 
Jesuit's relay teams added a pair of second place finishes, as the team of Lary, Savarese, Hughes and Giunta placed second with a 1:43.19 total relay time, followed by a third place finish (1:51.35) from the team of junior Jacob Follett, Scherer, sophomore Michael Hasenfratz and freshman Sam Kennington. Junior Alexander McSorley, Scherer, Suwanda and Giunta finished second in the 200 free relay with a 1:35.03, as sophomore Michael Hasenfratz, Follett, Moats and Kennington teamed up for a 1:43.17 in the event, placing third.
 
The Rangers will now turn their attention to the North Zone TISCA meet, set for Nov. 17-19 at LISD Westside in Lewisville, Texas. The action begins on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 3 p.m. with the diving event, followed by swimming prelims on Nov. 18 and swimming finals on Nov. 19.
