Game Recap: Lacrosse - Class A |

Nine-Goal Run Catapults Jesuit to Decisive Win in Tollway Rivalry

Highland Park scored 1:04 into the first quarter but did not find the back of net until the midpoint of the third quarter as the Rangers scored nine unanswered goals to take a commanding lead en route to a convincing, 13-5 win over the Scots on Thursday at Highlander Stadium. With the victory, Jesuit finishes the 2022 regular season undefeated against Lone Star State competition, and will enter the playoffs with an 11-2 record.

Sophomore Beckett Foley erupted for four goals, all coming in an eight-goal first quarter for the Blue and Gold. Junior Charlie Schmidt recorded a hat trick on Thursday wiith three assists, keeping his strong end-of-season run intact as Schmidt has secured 10 of his 21 goals in Jesuit's last four games. Senior McAllister Hobbs and Charles Moran recorded two assists apiece while additional tallies were recorded by sophomore Greyson Kissock and senior John Starr.

The Rangers exhibited stellar poise throughout the game, working the shot clock to slow the game down in the second half and moving the ball well, recording assists on nine of their 13 goals. Seniors Nate Duncan, Charlie Metz and Hobbs recorded two assists apiece and Kissock added one of his own to complete the team's impressive scoring line.

Senior Connor Knight recorded eight saves in goal, and senior Will Reading secured 12 face-off wins, including an unblemished 6-for-6 clip in the second half. The Rangers were 19-of-19 in clear attempts and forced six failed clears, including three in the first quarter to help the Ranger scoring run. Jesuit was dominant in the ground game, winning the ground ball tally 30-15. Reading picked up a game-high eight ground balls while Foley, Moran and junior Michael Mathie picked up three apiece.

The Rangers will next await their seeding in the upcoming 2022 Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) Class A State Tournament. Set to begin on Apr. 30 at a location to be determined in the Metroplex, the state semifinals and finals are set for May 7-8 in Austin, Texas.
