Jesuit Dallas swimming and diving celebrated the careers of four senior student-athletes in the 2022-23 home finale on Tuesday at the David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center. Despite a 103-82 setback to the Wolverines, the Rangers swam several strong times ahead of the District 8-6A Championships, set for Jan. 27 at the Loos Aquatic Center in Addison.
Senior
Leonardo Pelaez won a pair of events, capturing vitories in the 200 I.M. (1:58.70) and 500 free (4:47.19) while contributing to Jesuit's victorious 400 free relay team, joining freshman
Sebastian Suwanda, freshman
Luke Lary and junior
William Savarese for a 3:17.22 total relay time. Savarese added two wins of his own, finishing first in the 50 free (22.05) and 100 fly (51.11), while Suwanda finished second in the 200 I.M. (2:07.47) and 500 free (5:03.24).
Jesuit's 200 free relay team, consisting of Savarese, Suwanda,
Theodore Scherer and Pelaez, placed second with a 1:32.00 and were followed by a 1:38.96, third-place relay swam by
Jaden Giunta,
Jonathon Schwetz,
Flyn Hughes and
Sam Kennington. Lary, Scherer, Hughes and
Alexander McSorley finished third in the 200 medley relay with a 1:48.12 relay time.
Quinton Moats won the 200 free with a 2:07.34 for Jesuit's final win of the event.
The Rangers will look to capture the program's fourth straight district championship and 10th overall at this season's district meet. The diving portion will take place at 9 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 27, followed by the swimming portion at 2 p.m.
